Depicted on this coaster is one of the 176 “Black Hussars” assigned to quell the Philadelphia Street Car Strike in 1910. The news media wrote of their arrival, “to monkey with one of these strong and steady looking chaps was to be playing with the proverbial buzz-saw.” In 3 days, order was restored without a single shot being fired.
